Make sure you have turned on the laptop by pressing the Power button.
Make sure the power adapter is properly and securely connected to the laptop and power outlet.
Plug another electrical device into the power outlet to verify that the outlet is supplying power.

When you boot the laptop up for the first time, you will have to finish the setup for Windows, Chrome, or macOS.
This step is where you will be able to set up Cortana for Windows based laptops.
You will also be able to set a computer user name and password.

Does the battery hold a charge?

Check the battery icon in the bottom right on the screen to see if it is charging.
Turn the laptop off and remove the battery. Then reseat the battery and power it back on.
Check the volts and amps of your power adapter to make sure the battery is getting enough juice to charge.

If you are connecting the laptop directly to your router or modem, check that the cables are connected securely and verify that you have an active internet connection.
If you are trying to connect via WiFi, make sure the laptop does not have a WiFi switch that is turned off. Contact your internet service provider for more help.

Can you play media through the DVD drive? (If applicable)

With the Windows 10 update, Microsoft disabled DVD Playback.
A 3rd party media player will need to be installed.
We recommend VLC Video Player. It is a free service that will allow you to play media through your DVD drive.

Is Windows activated?

From the start menu, select setting> Update & Security> Activation. This will tell you the activation status of your laptop.
Windows can only activate after you are connected to the internet.
